Garden Workshop: Build an Edible Planter for Winter Harvests

DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GROW YOUR OWN FOOD ALL WINTER LONG?!

There are so many amazing plants you can grow in East Van during the cooler months! Join this workshop designed for anyone (no prior gardening experience needed) to build a large planter with leafy greens, herbs, and vegetables. Learn how to make a high quality soil, which plants you can grow, how to garden in cooler weather, gardening tips, and Q&A with a Master Gardener. A diverse selection of local seeds and plants with be available to everyone with an emphasis on heirloom varieties. No need to bring anything, this workshop includes all of the supplies:

- 1 Large Planter (16 inch diameter) made from recycled materials

- Soil (Worm Castings, Coconut Coir, Compost, etc.)

- Plants

- Seeds

What will you learn from this workshop?

- How to make a good quality soil for your planter.

- Which plants to direct seed and which plants to transplant as seedlings.

- How to direct seed and grow seedlings.

- How to take care of your plants.

- How to garden in cooler weather.
